The Tekla Discussion Forum is a community for supported users of Trimble's Tekla software products. In order to get access to the content and to contribute to our community, you have to sign in using your Trimble Identity. Your access is determined based on your active software licenses and additional access rights. We have dedicated forums for different Tekla products and different user groups. If you need guidance on how to get access, please read our instructions on accessing the forum. Post your question or start a new topic to the most relevant forum available to you. Basics about the Tekla Discussion Forum Tekla Discussion Forum is a service where Tekla users can discuss issues related to Tekla products. It is a professional forum, which is why we expect that all discussions on the forum remain professional and respectful following these House Rules as well as other related guidelines such as our Content Moderation Policy. By posting to the Tekla Discussion Forum, you agree that: Webmasters, administrators, and moderators have the right to remove, edit, move, and close any topic as they see fit in accordance with these House Rules and our Content Moderation Policy. All information you have entered into the forum is stored in our database. Information that can be considered as personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Notice. Posting tips Before you post, search for similar topics. Your question may already have been answered Different forums are for different purposes. See the forum descriptions and post on the forum related to your question. Keep one topic per discussion thread. Focus on the title of your topic: Make it as clear and informative as possible. Add snapshots and error messages, they can help to solve the issue. If you are asking for help with a software problem, include the version number in your message. When your question has been answered, mark the topic as answered. Intellectual property rights of attachments When you are uploading attachments (for example, images, zip files, pdf files), ensure that you own the content or that you have the rights to use the content you are uploading. Any uploaded content violating any applicable copyright legislation or other related regulations, will be handled in accordance with our Content Moderation Policy. Digital safety on the Tekla Discussion Forum At Trimble, we work on ensuring digital safety while respecting rights like privacy, freedom of speech, and security in our online services. A safe online space helps people to create, connect, and share knowledge. We have created rules and policies to keep our community members safe. On the Tekla Discussion Forum, your access rights limit what you can see and read, as well as where you can participate in discussions and which forum content is available to you when searching. For example, if you only have access to Tekla Structures Forums, you will only find content from those forums. If you have a valid license for multiple Tekla products, your search will cover all the content available in those product-specific forums. Good to know about limitations The requirement for having a valid license is also the reason why you cannot find Tekla Discussion Forum content by searching with popular search engines, such as Google or Bing. Quick search Start by typing the keyword you want to search for into the search field. If there are results, you can sort them by date or relevancy (default). Full keyword matches are highlighted in the results. You can refine your search by triggering the same search for content titles only. If you search using multiple keywords, the default search will present results for word1 OR word2 You can select to search for word1 AND word2 by clicking the link beneath the search field. Some search tips You can search for three-letter acronyms, such as pdf, txt, uel. Use a * at the end of a keyword when you are trying to find different variations of the same word, for example, XS_DRAW*. Advanced search Next to your search results, you have a More search options button. Click the button for more options to refine your search. -

The Tekla Discussion Forum has a lot of informative content, which you can use in case you run into a problem or just want to ask the community for tips, tricks and best practices. Besides this, you can of course network with your peers and gain reputation as a Tekla expert by helping others in the community. How to get started? Search for content Search for questions and answers or general discussions about the topic you are interested in. Try to narrow down the search results to only the relevant topics or for learning the terminology and finding out keywords used before. Ask a new question or start a new discussion Be active and ask a new question or start a new discussion in the forum which best fits your question. Provide information about which product, version and service pack you use. Sometimes it also helps if you say which environment or configuration you use. Use image attachments or videos to describe the problem you are trying to solve. Our user community is very active and odds are good that someone has wrestled with the same kind of problem in the past and can give good advice on how to resolve your problem. The moderator team and local support teams are also answering questions on the forum. Mark the question as solved When you have received an answer and your issue is resolved, mark the correct reply which helped you out to be the best answer to the question. This automatically marks the whole topic as solved and it will help others who have a similar question in the future. The forum is very easy to use, but in case you wonder about something, take a look here to find out how things work. Start new topics / Ask new questions In general discussion forums, you can start new discussions about basically anything you have on your mind related to Tekla products. If you have a specific software related issue, first search the discussion forum. If you don’t find an answer, add a new question in the forum dedicated to your topic. For more information on how to get started and how to close topics, see here. Create new polls If you want to ask community members for their opinion on a topic, attach a poll to your post. First, give your topic a title and provide some context for your question on the Content tab. Then, go to the Poll tab, give the poll a descriptive title and options members can choose from. When you submit your post, the poll will be visible on top of your topic explaining what the poll is about and why you ask for feedback. Attachments Add an image or short video to your post to describe your issue. For security reasons, we have limited the file formats you can use. There is a maximum size limit of 16 MB per attachment. You can access your uploaded attachments through your profile. For attachments that exceed the size limit, please use the URL option. Only community members with a valid license can upload attachments. For security reasons, the URL option is the only one available to certain user groups, such as Students. Profile Your profile page combines all your information on Tekla Discussion Forum. You can customize your profile by uploading a personal image. On your profile, you can see your activity feed, member rank, reputation, and awards. On your Account Settings page, you can see your sign in information, edit your profile, and define a signature which will be automatically added to your posts. Only community members with a valid license have access to their personal profile page. Notifications Use the controls on the Notification Settings panel to define how you want to receive information about activity on the forum. Depending on your device and browser, you can also choose to receive push notifications. Following When you start a new discussion, you will by default start to follow the activity on your topic. You can also follow different forums and other members' posts. You can receive the notifications by email or through the notification list. Ranks Tekla Discussion Forum automatically calculates your rank based on your activity. When you start new discussions, reply to questions, provide the best answer, or like content, your rank increases. Only the most active members will reach the Senior Member rank. Awards Awards are special recognition given to active community members who are helping others, taking part in competitions, or participating in our User Feedback Programs. You can view all available awards and the community members who have received them here. Activity Use the Activity functionality to follow what is going on in the different forums. There are activity streams for unread content, content you started, content you follow, and so on. You can also subscribe to the activity stream using an RSS feed reader. Private messaging Community members can send private messages to each other. You can turn this option off, if you don’t want to receive any private messages. Your inbox size is limited to a maximum of 50 messages, so use it wisely. Staff profiles You can easily recognize staff on the Tekla Discussion Forum. We have separate icons for Administrators, Moderators, Trimble staff, Regional Office staff, and Tekla resellers.
